About

I used to doodle - constantly. Usually in school & usually during tests or on homework... something neither my teachers or parents appreciated. Luckily, I was able to take my love for doodling into my own business that turned into my career.

After receiving my Advertising/Fine Art Degree from Washington State University, I assumed I would soon be Seattle's next high-powered advertising executive.  Instead, I found myself with a job in the restaurant business, where I started designing my first chalkboards.  Now, nearly 20 years later, Chalk of the Town has become my career & I couldn't be happier that I was wrong about that ad exec job.

I am blessed to work from home, in order to be a stay-at-home Mom of two daughters, Alexis & Isabella.  I love to cook & am pretty good at it. I love to garden... though I'm not very good at it.   I love a good cup of coffee almost as much as a good glass of wine.  And I'm a proud to be a Washingtonian - Go Cougs!.  My husband Ken is slightly jealous that my commute is from the coffee pot to my studio... usually in slippers.  I love my family, our big, loveably-goofy dog Barkley, where I live and what I'm doing.  Sounds pretty sappy, but it's all true.

My name is Malia.
I'm a wife, a mom &
an accidental artist.
